Genetics & Products
BGG operates a dual breeding system — Meng Series white pigs and the heritage black pig line — delivering premium genetics for large-scale commercial farms and specialty pork markets.
Meng Series / White Pig
Since the original import from Canada in 2013, BGG has never brought in live pigs from overseas. Through continuous high-intensity genomic selection, the Meng Series now comprises four specialised lines with performance benchmarked against leading North American, French and Danish genetics.
All genetics are data-driven. BGG can match customers with the right line based on target traits — litter size, growth rate, FCR, or eating quality.

Native Genetics / China's Heritage Pig Crisis
Since 1994, the relentless influx of commercial exotic breeds has driven native pig market share from 90% down to just 3.14%, forcing smallholder breeders out and accelerating the loss of indigenous genetic resources.

Heritage Conservation
China's indigenous pig breeds are disappearing at an accelerating rate. BGG believes that the loss of every native breed is an irreversible genetic setback — and the foundation of our black pig programme is safeguarding that heritage.
Flavour First
Black pig breeding follows a fundamentally different logic from commercial white pigs. IMF is the soul of eating quality and must take precedence over growth traits. Our goal is to restore the flavour profile that defined Chinese pork for generations.
Science Meets Heritage
Heritage pig breeding is far more complex and time-consuming than commercial white pig programmes. BGG has applied genomic selection over 20 years to accelerate genetic gain while preserving the flavour and breed characteristics that define the line.
Breed Origin
Source Institution
PLA Jinan Military Research Institute, 10-year programme from 2002
Original Purpose
High-quality pork for elite personnel including pilots and athletes
Breed Composition
8 breeds including Min Pig, Meishan, Ussuri Wild Boar, Putian Black Pig
Current Outcome
5 bloodlines · 10 blood families · 'Two High, One Low' meat quality profile
Phenotype Uniformity
Consistent conformation and appearance is a prerequisite for commercial-scale production. Through precision mating and maintenance of 5 stable bloodlines, every batch of BGG black pigs meets uniform quality standards.
Flavour · Intramuscular Fat ★ Primary Objective
IMF is the most critical determinant of eating quality and BGG's primary selection objective for the black pig line. Combined with the 'Two High, One Low' meat quality standard — high protein, high linolenic acid, low cholesterol — we are restoring the flavour profile that defines premium Chinese pork.
Growth Performance
Without compromising flavour, BGG progressively improves growth rate and FCR to reduce production costs and ensure that heritage pig farming remains economically viable for breeders — sustaining the long-term conservation programme.
